Another Great Play for Schools in Partnership with Metro
I Just Don't Buy That crams 7 short plays and 4 songs into a fast-paced and inspiring assembly. Teens will get a message that one way they can really make a difference is by thinking about consumption in whole new ways. I Just Don't Buy That, the middle school partner of our successful play for the K-5 crowd, Sky Orbison and the Earth Protectors, runs 45 minutes, including a Q&A session, and is suitable for groups of 300 or more.
Best of all, METRO will cover the costs associated with bringing this assembly to your school. (You can even book back-to-back shows if you have more than 600 students.) The show begins touring March 29, 2010 and runs through the 2011-2012 school year. You supply the space and one power circuit - we'll bring the entire show and complete sound system.
I Just Don't Buy That comes from the same team that produced New Canadian Kid, Frozen Carrots and Sky Orbison. The show is written by Andrew Berkowitz, with music, stage direction and production by Patrick Short. Our 2010 cast is Nicole Barrett, Manuel Hall, Donna Yarborough, Herb Spice, Amy Gray and Alex Falcone. The Executive Producer is Sara Kirby for Metro.
Like most Metro-funded assemblies, I Just Don't Buy That shows how to and why we want to reduce waste, but also focuses specifically on reducing and reusing - challenging students to resist the pressure to buy more and more stuff.

Choosing sustainable products
Questioning advertising and peer pressure
